Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Hypnosis

Hypnotherapy can help reduce the anxiety, tension and stress that multiple sclerosis causes many people. It compliments the other therapies that a person diagnosed with M.S. may be undertaking. It is amazing the re-energising effects hypnotherapy can have. Again it is not a cure, but can help in managing the condition, especially when used in conjunction with other therapies.
As someone who has been diagnosed with M.S. in 1998 after waiting 2 years for a definite diagnosis, Maire is acutely aware of the effects of such a diagnosis is on a person’s mental state. However she chooses not to let the disease control her, rather that she would be in control of it and live life to its fullest. She researched various alternative ways and eventually, finding that how a person thinks has a significant effect on the progress of the disease and undertook a course of study with the Irish Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psycho-Therapy, and found it to be of significant importance in handling this disease.
Maire uses hypnosis, exercise, mindfulness, positive thinking, visualisation and diet in her daily approach of dealing with this ‘uninvited guest’.
Now Maire offers suggestion and analytical therapies, all using hypnosis, to assist the person with this neurological condition to live life to its fullest and deal with the stress hormone Cortisol
All sessions are planned with the particular needs of the client. Her office is easily accessible. Multiple sclerosis causes damage to the nerve sheaths of the muscles . Tension releases the stress hormone Cortisol which may cause further damage. Hypnotherapy allows the person to relax and do visualisation exercises as well as teaching ‘self-hypnosis.
Depression and M.S.
